| 概要 | “Attempts to Search for SNPs Using DNA Extracted from Long-Term Formalin-Fixed Organs of Atomic Bomb Survivors” Autopsy organs of atomic bomb survivors are typically preserved long-term in formalin. Examination of formalin's effects on the genome revealed reduced DNA recovery rates. This is due to the aldehyde groups in formalin causing fragmentation of the bases constituting DNA. We clarified that this phenomenon exhibits temperature dependence, time dependence, and pH dependence. We demonstrated that DNA amplification of approximately 50 base pairs is possible even from these fragmented short genomic fragments. |
