概要	We developed a Drinking Motive Questionnaire for Japanese (DMQ-J)composed of 19 items to clarify the drinking motive of Japanese adults. Exploratory factor analysis revealed 5 drinking motives, namely, "Coping" motive, "Enhancement" motive, "Social" motive, "Meal" motive, and "Restraint" motive. Based on a data analysis of 1,000 drinkers, we found that males have a relatively unhealthy drinking style.
