概要	This paper looks at the oral and written production of a group of Japanese students involved in a three month study program in Canada. Specifically, it looks at the pre and post writing tests as well as performance made in the classroom. The results reveal that although some progress was made, there were problems inherent in the way English writing instruction is given in Japan.
