概要	チェルノブイリ事故原発周辺住民にみられる小児甲状腺がん多発の原因と考えられる放射性ヨウ素の発がん性いついて、ラットを用いた発癌実験を行った。甲状腺癌感受性に、ラット年齢依存性のあることを明らかにした。新田は研究の発案、計画、実行、解析、論文執筆までを遂行した。Relative Biological Effectiveness of gamma rays in rat thyroids exposed internally to externally. 5th Japan-France International Workshop: Radiation Biology and Medical Imaging, Chiba, 3rd - 4th, June, 2004の国際学会でシンポジストを勤めた。
