概要 | Nemerteans occur from intertidal to hadal depths, yet molecular data remain biased toward shallow-water taxa. The genus Nipponnemertes, distributed worldwide, had molecular phylogenies for only six of 18 species. We analyzed 59 specimens representing 23 species using two mitochondrial (16S, COI) and three nuclear genes (18S, 28S, H3). Extensive sampling from intertidal to bathyal zones in the Northwest Pacific expanded the known fauna from four to 17 species, including 10 described here as new. Our phylogeny revealed three major clades distinguished by head morphology: Clade A with demarcated head lacking cephalic patches; Clade B with demarcated head and cephalic patches; and Clade C with non-demarcated head lacking patches. We also discuss the evolution of small body size retained in Clade C.
