概要	This paper focuses on the changes that have occurred within the American melting pot from the 1680's to the present. It looks at immigration according to 4 major periods: Pre-colonial, Post-colonial, European and the Developing world. Although these major immigration movements have often resulted in ethnic tensions between the majority and minority populations, there is integration or a melting pot effect taking place.
