概要	Changes in leaf traits in response to plant–plant interactions reportedly affect feeding of insect herbivores, but it is not clear whether they affect feeding of vertebrates. We examined the effects of interactions of Aster leiophyllus collected in the field (aggregated plants vs. solitary plants) or grown in pots (intraspecific: two A. leiophyllus; interspecific: A. leiophyllus + Carex aphanolepis or A. leiophyllus + Thalictrum baicalense) on the contents of total phenolics in A. leiophyllus leaves and Sika deer preference in Japan.
