Details Factors that maintain social anxiety include fear of negative evaluations (FNE) and fear of positive evaluations. In addition, self-attention (rumination and reflection) also influences social anxiety. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey of 147 university students to examine the influences of FNE and FPE on social anxiety, with rumination and reflection as mediating variables. As a result, it was shown that FNE and FPE directly influence social anxiety, but also indirectly influence social anxiety through rumination. These results suggest that not only interventions for FNE and FPE, but also interventions for rumination may be successful.
