概要	This article discusses the need for a reconceptualisation of the pedagogical value of English loanwords in the Japanese language. It looks at the issue from the point of view of a student, instructor and materials developer and argues that the massive number of English loanwords which are embedded in the Japaneselanguage can be considered a built-in lexical resource.
