Details This research reports on a project undertaken at a medium-sized liberal arts private institution in Western Japan which aimed to evaluate the productive English skills of students graduating from the Department of English and use the findings as part of a feedback loop: to help identify actionable changes that were necessary in the Department’s course content. A corpus analysis was conducted on 149 graduation theses to assess the vocabulary level, and the results were compared with an adapted version of the British Academic Written English corpus (BAWE).
