| Details | This paper first shows what courses Kumagusu Minakata took and what activities he engaged in at Michigan Agricultural College in his freshman year and in the first term of his second year. Then we examine the existing reports of the class records of four courses that are housed in the Michigan State University Archives and Historical Collections, referring to descriptions in his diary and the annual catalogues of the Agricultural College from his college days. From these reports it becomes clear who taught him in those courses and by comparing his grades and attendance records to those of other Japanese students who studied in the same courses as Kumagusu, what subjects he was good at and how diligently he worked for the courses for which he was registered. |
