|"Community-based Assistance for a Free School"
|The present study aims to reveal how a free school provides non-attendant students with useful services. In general, free schools in Japan do not enjoy sufficient funds because many of them do not receive grants-in-aid from national, prefectural, and municipal governments. This lack of financial aid from the three levels of government differentiates them from traditional schools. Free schools are required to devise methods of effective and efficient management. I report on the case of a free school that receives cooperation from the community. The present study elucidates how this free school utilizes aid from the neighborhood. (16 pages)
