Details The measurement of neck circumference (NC) is an easy method for assessment of obesity.
We measured NC in college students and assessed the contribution of NC to the four obesity indices, weight, BMI, body fat and WC. Our study showed that it was hard to assess the distribution of fat in the body by NC alone in college students. Nevertheless the measurement of NC is an easy, inexpensive and reproducible method for assessment of obesity, and a possible predictor to identify the risk for future metabolic diseases in Japanese college students with the four obesity indices, weight, BMI, body fat and WC.
