概要 | This study focused on reward and sought to clarify whether having excessive enthusiasm for work serves as a risk factor for burnout. In a pilot survey, we developed a subjective reward scale (SRS) for professionals who provide assistance to people. The participants were 135 social workers in Japan. The results show that SRS has a factor structure different from that of the effort-reward imbalance at work model (Siegrist, 1996). In particular, interpersonal reward has an effect of reducing burnout tendency. Moreover, if proper reward for work is guaranteed, having enthusiasm for work will become an effective strategy in preventing burnout syndrome. However, with poor reward, having enthusiasm might have the opposite effect. Further research will be necessary for various occupations. |
