Details This study attempts to assess L2 learners', Japanese learners of English as a foreign language in our case, pragmalinguistic knowledge using an online elicited imitation test (hereafter, EIT) which focuses on assessing receptive pragmatic routine knowledge. In this poster presentation, we will introduce how PREIT (Pragmatic Routine Elicited Imitation Test) can be delivered online, discuss the significance of using PREIT to assess L2 learners’ pragmatic routine knowledge, and show the results of the preliminary study. This presentation will be of interest to researchers of L2 pragmatics and to language instructors.
